Question by dominican4ever: Reputable Health Insurance for people with preexisting conditions?
My mother in-law, applied for health insurance on 3 of the biggest Health Insurance companies and she was turned down from all them, due to her preexisting health condition. (Something with her feet, can’t think of the name of it). I was just wondering if any body knows of a Health Insurance company that would take people like her with preexisting conditions. Thanks in advance.
She wouldn’t qualify for a goverment insurance plan, she makes good money.

This is a discount plan, not insurance, but it’s very affordable, from an awesome company, and will accept any preexisting health conditions. You can check it out at: http://www.everyonebenefits.com/LMota

If I was in charge of changing something that I liked just the way it is, I would probably be dragging my feet the whole way. I say take away congressional members’ health coverage, as well as their family’s. Tell them their policies will be re-instated when they pass a bill for the rest of the nation.

Question by Nikita: Is a steroid injection appropriate remedy for an old foot injury? Side effects?
hi All..
I had a foot injury four months ago. a fracture did not show up in the xrays done the day of injury and after 6 weeks. it never really go better and the doctor put me on a cast for 3 weeks.
its still sore. however, there is one thing – i have not been doing the contrast bath (cycles of – 1 minute in ice , 1 min rest, 1 min in hot water) for my foot regularly as the doc recommended.
Now he says he would give a steroid injection to the site of injury.
I do not know if i should go for it. Would it really help?
Or if i should wait for some time before going for it. All advice welcome.
Also I’d be glad to learn if anyone has been through anything similar and how was the experience.
Thanks.
PS: Here’s my description/history of the injury / joint fracture: http://www.foot-health-forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=13444

Q&A: Can you sue a health insurance company for denying medical coverage?

Question by CMS: Can you sue a health insurance company for denying medical coverage?
My doctor has referred me to have the gastric by-pass surgery. I’ve spent the last 4 months and countless money (of my own) getting all the things the done the insurance company has asked for. This includes psych evaluation, sleep study, nutrition counseling, physicals and documentation to include I have tried at least 2 non-surgical weight loss programs for over a year with no long term success. Finally after submitting everything, they denied me for “no recent active participation in a non-surgical weight reduction program”. My last weight loss attempt was a year ago. I am about to lose my job because I cannot literally stand up on my feet anymore. This is something I have to get, not something I just want. It would seem if both my primary physician and the specialist both agree this is medically necessary, then the insurance companies couldn’t deny someone their health.

They can and they have done it to other people. The treatment you are talking about is not 100% safe. Some people develop complication from it. Maybe that is why they reserve it as the last resort. It shouldn’t be hard to participate in a non-surgical weight reduction program. After that, they may pay for the surgery. Good luck.

Q&A: Tendon sticking out of hands and feet? HEALTH?

Question by Eileen E: Tendon sticking out of hands and feet? HEALTH?
A while ago when I clenched my feet it would become very painful. This tendon (I believe) would stick out and I couldn’t unclench my foot, I would have to reach down and unclench it with my hands.
It once happened during a sleepover and I freaked out my friends when I woke up crying out in pain.
It’s only majorly happened in my right foot. The same tendon sticks out of both my feet when I’m walking.
Not long after this started I noticed the same tendon-like problem with my hands, and I can’t write for a long period of time without my right hand getting in serious pain.
I ordered some arch supports for my feet (thinking it was fallen arches) and they helped a bit with my feet not getting stuck if I clench them, but there is still dull pain.
Whats up with my hands and feet?

Question by Elle: What should a 5 foot 4 female who is 19 years old weigh?
For me this is more of a health concern than diet and fitness. I’m not overweight or anything.

around 120 or 130.
but remember this all differs with how people are made.
some people have bigger muscles and bones than other people so they weight more than that.
