There are SO many things that can happen w/ horse. You need to get their feet trimmed every 4-8 weeks depending on how fast they grow. There are several diseases that they can get in their hooves including laminitis which usually leads to their lives ending. Horses also are prone to colic which can kill them. They could also break a leg in a freak accident and have to be put down. Make sure that you receive regular vet & farrier care and do a lot of reading about horses so that you can better educate yourself. Maybe get a trainer to come out and work with you also. Good luck.

just to clarify-colic is the most common but colic itself is just a bellyache. The seriousness is if they roll to alleviate the pain and then twist their gut. Horses cannot vomit so even when they get constipated it can be very serious since nothing can go either way. But anything that is a stomach upset is colic and not serious in itself.

You cannot get it legally. You need to be gh deficient. The health benefits to a person who is deficient are numerous..a person who is deficient is very sick and replacing gh eases those symptoms. But I have heard that it is dangerous to take if you are not deficient. A Dr. will not prescribe it plus it is very expensive unless insurance covers it.

No. As they pay out $.99 in claims for every $1 they take in, in premiums, clearly the rate increases are justified.

If "more individuals" want lower premiums, they can take these very easy steps:

1. Eat healthier, and excercise regularly. Obesity is the current #1 cause of increasing health costs.

2. Don't screw around. More than half of the babies born here are to unmarried mothers, and about half of those births, are C sections - and about 25% of the babies and mothers have complications from the surgery (including premature babies because they were scheduled too early), resulting in the #2 health care expenditure. If we didn't pay for hospital births regularly, it would drastically drop the premiums.

3. Use your common sense. Yep, playing football on skis, can result in serious injuries or death. Flooring the gas when you hit a yellow light, means you're much more likely to rearend the guy in front of you - or hit the guy turning left as the light turns red.

Ya want cheaper health coverage? Take responsibility for yourself, and stop blaming insurance companies. They aren't making money from the premiums they're charging.

Trying to do "surgery" on yourself is a great way to lose your foot. Being pre-med does not mean that you can do these things, nor does it mean you know your medicine yet. Trust me on this one, I was the same way. Go to your podiatrist, they'll get it done for you quickly, neatly, and in a sterile environment. Don't risk infection or nerve damage.

And yes the above poster is correct, distal to the sole of your foot is your toes. You mean superficial.

Wow !

If this is a legitimate question [and I have seen many a Q on YA that is very detailed and serious sounding but is actually a hoax !] then don't be a wuss.

I have looked after many a patient who has had fragments of glass caught underneath their skin from car crashes and the like. For some reason these things don't get infected, at least the ones that I have come across. But they all eventually make their way to the surface and pop out for the patient to keep in a specimen jar. If it hurts, pad the surrounding area only, while wearing shoes - this may even aid its escape from your sweaty foot.

If it is really too much to bare then make an appointment - I can see you Monday afternoon. I love doing stuff like that.

Go to the hospital as it could become infected. If you knew anything about medicine then you would realize that it could become septic which may lead to amputation or death

Don't wait!
