Onychomycosis

One of the most common problems to affect the toenails is a condition known as onychomycosis which the technical name for a fungal infection. They generally come in two types with one being a more superficial onychomycosis which tends to be a white discolouration near the end of the nail and a more deeper onychomycosis with a yellowish discoloration that tends to be more to the base of the nail. The main risk factor for onychomycosis is the damp and dark environment inside the shoes which is conducive to a fungal infection developing. The treatment is also difficult as whatever method is used you have to wait for the nail to grow out which can take upwards of six months or more. In that time, the foot is kept in the damp environment that caused the problem in the first place. There are many different methods used to treat this condition and one of the newer ones is laser therapy. Other methods to treat onychomycosis are topical agents applied every day and oral agents taken each day. Generally the success with most treatments is unsatisfactory due to the high chance of it happening again.

We have a large trend back to the retro athletic shoes as a style statement and most of the primary running footwear companies are re-releasing a few of their outdated versions. One of these is the Onitsuka Tiger through the Asics Organization. They are proving to be really popular among athletes that are sentimental to those times when there was less science and much less argument about the jogging shoes just like there are these days. The Onitsuka Tiger are probably the market leader within this increasing market of old style jogging shoes. They are probably not good enough to make use of as running footwear because they would not be durable enough as a result of requirements that athletes would likely put them under these days (about).

My brother is diabetic, and feels more comfortable to have his foot wound treated by natural treatments. But he doesn’t know how to find a professional. Could you help?

Dr. Wellhausen is in Loma Linda but I have not had any experience with him but have heard good things.

If your brother doesn’t mind the drive, I suggest Dr. Whitaker in Newport Beach.

He can call both of them to see what type of payments they accept and what he feels more comfortable.

You can also do a search for “Naturopathic Doctors”. These are doctors that are trained at healing problems with natural remedies mixed with modern medicine as opposed to MDs that usually only prescribe drugs and are really only beneficial in emergency situations.

Ive never had any serious health issues, I am height weight porportionate and I eat well. I am not sure why I lose balance so easily in my legs or feet when walking or standing. I am also sometimes very tired and lose concentration easily. Often I have a hard time sleeping.I want to see if anyone might have a good answer or conclusion before I go see my physician.

I am 33, 5 foot 6, very active (swim, walk a lot, have started yoga and belly dancing, and do sit-ups, 25 a day, and push ups about 15 a day). I have a lot of muscle in my arms and legs. I have a little bit of a baby condo left from having my third child, but other then that my stomach is relatively flat. My BP is usually around 110/60. But here is the thing, I way 223 lbs. When I have people geuss my weight people usually say about 150, I know some of that is trying to be polite but some seem genuinely suprised when I say what I weigh. According to the BMI I am morbidly obese, but I don’t feel it. I told my mother and a co-worker that I want to lose 70 lbs they said that I would look like a skeleton. My doctor says weightloss would be good, but he also says that I am in perfect health, so what do you folks think???? Go by weight or go by how you look, act and feel?????

usually id say go by how u feel but youshould try to lose some weight like try to get to 175 and see how you feel

And leave us Conservatives out of it… if you feel so strongly about health care being everyones right, go empty your bank account, grab a bum off the street, throw him in your car, and take him to the hospital for a full checkup on your dime… show him you care! Then when he needs a surgery you just foot the bill for him! I don’t want to be stolen from.

I guess the same should be applied to your military spending.

Here’s the deal, I don’t believe that we should spend more on defense than all the other countries in the world combined, however, I do live in a country and understand the necessity of paying taxes as part of it, so don’t complain. I simply vote for people who I believe wont continue the irresponsible push for weapons.

You however don’t understand community and country, so ask why you shouldn’t be responsible for paying for health care, when in fact, every time you get money taken out of your bill for health insurance, it goes towards some other sick person.

I am sorry you don’t understand that.

Even though by doing so he will end up borrowing a whopping 1.5 trillion dollars in order to foot the bill. We have 310 million people in the U.S. and he will have to cover us all. Not only that, but like every other government program it will be milked by people who leech off of the system. Why doesn’t he just leave the health care matters to the state. You know, like Massachusetts did.

the skin between my toes is….peeling and splitting causing them to be very itchy. I’ve looked it up online but I dont seem to have a rash or anything like that. and it kinda smells. Also my feet sweat more than normal. I can’t go to a doctor because I don’t have health care. Is there anything I can do at home to fix it and do you think I have athletes foot?

Sounds just like athletes foot. Get some Lamisil. When you get out the shower, dry your feet real well, and spray on and in between your toes. It’ll sting but that means it’s working. I got athletes foot at summer camp one year and would scratch so much I would take all the skin between my toes off. I used Lamisil and in 2 weeks completely gone.

My mother in-law, applied for health insurance on 3 of the biggest Health Insurance companies and she was turned down from all them, due to her preexisting health condition. (Something with her feet, can’t think of the name of it). I was just wondering if any body knows of a Health Insurance company that would take people like her with preexisting conditions. Thanks in advance.
She wouldn’t qualify for a goverment insurance plan, she makes good money.
